Guam - Only seven months on board as the general manager of the Guam Housing and Urban Renewal Authority, Ray Topasna was given the boot by his board. Topasna was hired to lead the agency after the controversial exit of his predecessor Marcel Camacho.

According to GHURA chairman Dave Sablan, it was a unanimous vote that was made during executive session during today's board meeting.  Sablan saying the board sets high standards for its director and that members decided that his performance was unsatisfactory. Sablan would not release specific details about his termination, which was effective immediately.

Meanwhile, Topasna tells KUAM News that he is still in shock and did not expect the termination because he believes they did not have grounds to release him of his duties.  He adds his last performance evaluation rating back in May ranked him highly satisfactory in most categories, and he's unsure how it went from there to ultimately termination.

Longtime GHURA employee Mike Duenas was named as Topasna's temporary replacement.
