18 United Airlines staffers furloughed

Guam - A total of eighteen employees with United Airlines were given their furlough notices this week. Airline staff tell KUAM News two employees from Reservations and sixteen from United's Passenger Service division on Guam will be out of a job come January 5.

United director of corporate communications for the Asia/Pacific Region Koji Nagata states United is currently reorganizing its contact center, cargo and airport operation functions on Guam as part of company wide initiatives to increase efficiency and achieve sustained profitability.

No word yet on what will happen to cargo workers, as the airline plans to outsource its cargo facility.

    Inmate Found Dead at Mangilao Prison

    An inmate is found dead at the Department of Correction prison overnight. Corrections officers reported inmate Luis Hocog was found unresponsive inside his Post 16 cell around 11 pm on Friday. The officer contacted the platoon commander of the situation and requested for medical assistance, a news release stated.
