Guam - More than half of teens who use the Internet communicate with people they have never met before. Federal Bureau of Investigation Special Agent Jason Dodd presented statistics to the Rotary Club of Northern Guam this afternoon. Dodd told Rotarians most predators spend months building friendships with minors.
He warns teens who often post photos and social media updates with their mobile phones, saying, "It's the data behind the data that will have the GPS coordinates in that picture so someone savvy is ready a post from a girl, 'I'm so bored and I'm alone, and by the way, here's the coordinates to my house.'"
FBI statistics show that in 2007 more than 30,000 sex offenders have an active social network account.
