Guam - Today's holiday didn't stop 100 teachers, counselors, and school administrators from hitting the books. In celebration of 35 years as a career and technical college, the Guam Community College hosted a Career-Technical Education Conference.

GCC communications director Jayne Flores says it's critical students know how to apply what they learn in the classroom to their daily lives and their future careers. "We are just excited that teachers are excited about integrating academics in CTE because we understand by 2014, the high schools are going to be removing the college track or the CTE track and make all students go into one track," Flores said.

The conference rounds out on Saturday.
