Guam - The Navy opened additional lanes at the main entry points into its Sumay and Agana Heights installations to help alleviate some of the congestion that resulted in major traffic delays at the beginning of the week. U.S. Naval Base Guam public affairs officer Annette Donner says the checkpoints were moved further inside the bases.
The Guam Police Department also partnered with the Navy to ensure smooth traffic flow outside the bases. Donner adds the heighted security measures on the navy installations will remain in place until officials determine there are no longer safety and security threats to the community and the military's assets.
The Navy is investigating two bomb threats that were called in on Monday and Tuesday mornings.
