Guam - Vice Speaker B.J. Cruz is renewing his call for an audit of the Qualifying Certificate program. In another letter to Public Auditor Doris Flores Brooks, the Democrat lawmaker stressed the need for the review, which he has requested twice before, saying $15.5 million in corporate tax rebates were approved by Fiscal Year 2011.
Cruz noted the amount for last fiscal year was more than the previous four years combined. Brooks says the issue is on the OPA radar and is considered a priority.
She says a review has yet to be conducted due to limited staff but she says one will be done once her staff has completed the audits they are currently working on.
