Guam - F.Q. Sanchez Elementary School appears to be in the same state it was when Department of Parks & Recreation staff inspected earlier this year. DPR director Pete Calvo says staff inspected Friday and found the building has yet to be used likely because DOE replaced the school's generator with a smaller one and pulled an air conditioning unit out for use at another school. There's also missing wiring and graffiti on the walls.
Calvo notes the grass has been maintained and Umatac Mayor's Office's staff were cleaning the school on Friday. He hopes to work with the Governor's Office and the Umatac mayor to discuss a permanent solution to get the historic building up and running.
It was back in December the school's keys were handed over to the mayors office in hopes of developing a charter school.
