Guam - The Guam Memorial Hospital's flatlining finances were the topic of discussing during last night's hospital board meeting. GMH administrator Joseph Verga says officials are working on a plan to address some of the short-term debt and in the meantime, he's established three different task forces.
Verga says one is looking to eliminate waste and achieve efficiencies throughout the hospital while another is looking at materials and procurement. The last is to improve the hospital's coding to capture billing charges more effectively and to increase revenue. Verga will also be conducting second interviews next week with several chief financial officer applicants.
He hopes to narrow it down to one candidate by the end of next week.
