Guam - Island mayors have decided
not to take a position on Proposition 'A', which seeks to legalize for-profit
bingo only at the former Guam Greyhound facility. Yigo mayor Robert Lizama made a motion that
the Mayors Council of Guam should not take a position on the initiative and
instead leave it to the districts to decide.
The motion was seconded by Talofofo mayor Vicente Taitague and was
passed.
Ordot-Chalan Pago mayor Jessy Gogue, who overseas the Bingo
Initiative Committee, has been tasked to coordinate meetings with groups for
and against Prop "A" to speak with individual village centers if they
request it. Attorney Ron Moroni, who
filed the incorporation documents at the Department of Revenue & Taxation
on behalf of the Guam
Japan Friendship
Village, was in
attendance at today's meeting to answer any questions they had about the
initiative.
Up until today no one has come forward on behalf of the group or
the backers of the proposal to speak about their efforts to bring electronic
bingo machines to the island.
