Guam - Without holding a public hearing, lawmakers passed Bill 516 this morning. The legislation is inline with USDOE's approval of extending the deadline for the Department of Education to obligate ARRA monies. The legislation however also increases the revenue projection by $5 million taking into consideration the recent reimbursement of additional Section 30 monies by the Department of the Interior. There's also a provision that takes $3 million that would have gone to the Department of Mental Health for its amended permanent injunction and re-appropriates it to GCC and UOG.
Senators also passed a resolution sends a message to Washington that the legislature supports the China Visa Waiver Program.
