Guam - The Guam Legislature will hold a public hearing on Tuesday for Bill 513, which seeks to provide health insurance to Government of Guam employees and retirees for Fiscal Year 2013. The government had to scrap negotiations and bids that were submitted for the new contract because of numerous errors on the government's side.
The new measure, introduced by Senator Ben Pangelinan and ten other lawmakers, seeks to obtain sealed bids from health insurance carriers. Bill 513 purports to be the solution to securing a new contract for the coming fiscal year, which begins on October 1. Insurance companies have expressed concerns with the measure.
The hearing will be held Tuesday at two o'clock in the afternoon at the Legislative Public Hearing Room.
