According to DOE acting superintendent Taling Taitano, the agency did receive a lump sum payment of $428,000 from the Department of Administration last week, but saw delays on whether to cut the checks through payroll or accounts payable.
Taitano says 2,600 DOE employees will be receiving checks ranging from $3 to $500. Checks will be distributed to schools and not by mail.
