Guam - With a little over a
month until the Primary Election, the Guam Election Commission appears to have
solved another problem. According to executive director Maria Pangelinan, its
$74,000 debt to Election Systems & Software from the Decision 2008 election
has been paid.
She says the funds came from within the GEC's budget by working
together with the Bureau of Budget & Management Research and the Department
of Administration. From there she says Governor Eddie Calvo exercised his
transfer authority by working through the fiscal year budget act provision that
allows him to pay off prior year obligations.
By paying off the vendor, the GEC can now purchase extra ballot
stock, which it discovered it was lacking earlier this week.
