Guam - A former John F. Kennedy High School teacher and athletic director was picked up by police this afternoon, accused of having sex with students while on campus. The Guam Police Department's Juvenile Investigation Section arrested 37-year-old Jack Eugene Hattig, III this afternoon. The Department of Education had launched an investigation into allegations of teachers have inappropriate relationships with students.

Hattig, who was the athletic director for the Upper Tumon school, resigned last year in the midst of that investigation.

KUAM News has learned that Hattig is accused of having sexual relations with at least three female minors.  GPD spokesperson Sergeant Mike Aguon says the investigation began when Hattig was accused of inappropriately touching a female student. During the course of the investigation, two other female students came forward saying they had sexual relations with the teacher.

Hattig was arrested on three counts of official misconduct and two counts of child abuse.  Police say he wasn't charged with criminal sexual conduct because the minors were 16 at the time, which is the age of consent.
