Guam - This year's girl's high school soccer championship game will be played on Friday at the GFA Field in Harmon starting at 6:30 pm. The two teams meeting in the title game are the Southern High Dolphins and Notre Dame Royals. Southern High make their way to the title game after beating the Guam High Panthers in the first of two semi final games that were played yesterday at the GFA Field.
With the game scoreless in the first half Paige Surber streaked down the right side of the field out running the defense to get a clean shot on goal. Surber gave her team a 1-0 lead heading into the half. The Panthers answered in the 46th minute of the match when Quincy Tougher kicked through a goal off a corner kick to tie the game. Paige Surber stepped up for the Dolphins in the 68th minute and hit a penalty kick for the last score of the game to advance Southern High to this year's title game. In the 2nd game of the day the Notre Dame Royals shut out the George Washington Gecko's 2-0 to meet the Dolphins on Friday.
Jeena Naputi found the back of the net in 29th minute of play. Teammate Demi Rae Shimizu followed up with another goal for ND in the 75th minute to seal the deal.
The Guam High Panthers and G.W Gecko's will meet in the consolation game at 4:30 pm this Friday followed by the Royals and Dolphins at 6:30 pm in the championship game.
