Guam - In light of several companies interested in establishing nuclear energy on Guam, the Consolidated Commission on Utilities recently adopted a resolution exploring that feasibility for our island and what terms and conditions need to be considered. CCU chairman Simon Sanchez says GPA is currently doing an integrated resource plan process to consider what impacts small modular nuclear reactors or similar advance nuclear technologies may have in reducing Guam's dependence on fossil fuel oil.

The companies interested in nuclear energy are Global Energy Corp, Q-Power and Newscale, the latter of which CCU and GPA are meeting with this week.
