Catholics attend Ash Wednesday masses

Guam - Thousands of the island's Catholic faithful flocked to parishes around the island today for Ash Wednesday masses. Today is the official start of Lent, a 40-day time of fasting ending on Easter. Church goers receive ashes on the foreheads, often in the shape of the cross, as a sign of repentance to God.
