Guam - The Marianas Beach
Volleyball Junior Cup Tournament was a success with 19 teams taking part in the
event. With the help of some off-island professional players the competitors
got a chance to sharpen up their skills with world class coaching. This year
marked the first year for the Marianas Junior Cup for 18U players held here on
island.
Tournament coordinator Jon Cramer told KUAM Sports, "It's
a new edition to the Marianas Cup Beach Volleyball Festival which is in it's
20th year and that has a pro am event in Saipan and next year that event will
be coming here to Guam. So this is our preliminary round for getting ready for
it. We have pros in from Japan,
New Zealand and the U.S. It's a great
turnout and we would like to thank our sponsors, Pepsi, Hanom, Gatorade, M80,
DNA Evolution, PIC, First Hawaiian, Matson ands of course the Guam Volleyball
Federation for putting all of this together."
