Guam - The Department of Public
Works has been ordered to conduct a slope stability analysis for the AS-Alonso
area. The receiver and the agency had expressed concerns to the District Court that
there is a need for the addition of shoulders in the curves along the route
that would enhance the safety of motorists.
The AS-Alonso Road Project is one of several ongoing projects related to
accessing the new Layon landfill.
District Court Chief Judge Frances Tydingco-Gatewood ordered
that DPW conduct a new topographic survey of the area and authorized the
receiver to pay the costs associated with the new analysis and survey as the
agency indicated it cannot afford it and cannot obtain federal funding in a
timely manner.
