Guam - The Lime Light Spartans will look to have a turn around year when they kick off the 2012 MFL Football season against the Shell Hal's Angels. The Spartans have been practicing together for a couple of months now and are confident that this will be the season when they advance past the first round of the playoffs.

Head coach AJ Quitugua told KUAM Sports, "We have a majority of the guys that played last year for the old DOCOMO Chargers team. We brought in a lot of new players from off island and the high school level along with veterans from some of the other teams. We have a good disciplined team and running backs and we will look forward to putting up points on the board this year."

Defensively the Spartans will have some of their key players back looking to step up and assume leadership roles and guide the younger guys along as the season progresses. Outside linebacker Jontue Lee said, "We have a brand new team, new atmosphere and new swagger about us. This year we want to bring it and compete and just bring our A game. Defensively we bring leadership from last year, T.C. Mix is the co-captain of the defense. We have a lot of new guys; new faces and we hope to contend for the championship this year. We just hope to see a lot of supporters come out and support us when we take to the field on the 18th."

On the offensive side of the ball, quarterback Paul Flores will look to lead the team as they face the defending champs Shell Hal's Angels. Flores says that the team will be ready to go come kickoff. Flores said, "We have a lot of talent and we are a new team, new sponsor and we have a lot of new guys that came out this year. We are just going to bring it, we have a lot of heart and talent so were ready for this season. We have been practicing for a while now and I have been just leading by example so hopefully it will show come game time.

"We just want to go out and play everybody and leave it all on the field and leave it all on the line and may the best team win."
