Guam - 23-year old Johnson Mathias is behind bars on $25,000 cash bail, accused of striking a man with a machete. The 19-year-old victim noticed that a man appeared to be bothering two women in the parking lot of the Dededo Mall.  When the victim went to find out what was going on, Mathias and several others allegedly approached him to fight.

According to court documents, Mathias started to swing a machete at the victim and hit him in the head.  The victim's dad arrived at the scene and saw what was happening and managed to get his son to safety.  The teen was treated for a large cut to the top of his head and another on his face.

Mathias was arrested and faces charges of aggravated assault, possession and use of a deadly weapon in the commission of a felony, and criminal mischief.  He is scheduled to appear back in court for a preliminary hearing on February 21.
