Guam - The 2012 Monster Energy Motocross Championship gets under way next weekend Sunday February 19 at the racetrack in Yigo. Fans can expect some fast high paced action with riders moving up looking to get out to a good start and pick up some points in the first race of the season.

Bob Bucek told KUAM Sports, "Most of the boys have been coming out and they ran the Monsoon Series, which was held late last year to keep themselves from getting too rusty. Then they came out to the warm up races that were held. Caleb Barreto is coming out and he is going to defend his title last 2 weeks and they have been showing a lot of improvement. Especially the guys that raced in the 85cc class last year, we have a whole class of riders that moved up to the big bikes and they are going to be true contenders. They have really kicked it up a notch and the level of racing has progressed and it's going to be non-stop action. We will have canopies out there so just bring your own chairs and soft drinks for right now and enjoy the day."

Riders are asked to attend the mandatory meeting on race day at 12:00 in the afternoon; registration will run from 11:00 to 12:00 with practice runs taking place from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. Gates for the event open at 9:00 am with racing scheduled for 1:00 pm.

Bucek added, "We have a mega track built out there and we will be improving on it all the way up until Smoking Wheels and further. It's a 12 round series so look forward to racers like Anthony Ignacio and JR Cepeda they are the young guns that have moved up. They have been putting in a lot of practice and have done a lot of these Monsoon Races along with the warm ups. They have been out there doing it. Caleb Barreto is also coming out, he is the champion of champions meaning he swept both series last year in the open motorcycle class.

"A host of other riders we are expecting to be coming out, there should be 15 to 20 riders on the line in the open motorcycle class. The open ATV Class will have a bunch of riders we will also have the mini bike class out there not to mention our mini atv class which is very popular and very large. It's a 2 moto format, 20 minutes plus 1 lap, 2 motos per class for the big guys and for the kids class it will be 15 minutes plus lap, 2 motos. We start at 1:00 pm it will be a lot of fun and we hope you can be there."
