Guam - Island roadwork continues through some of Guam's busiest villages. Here's your weekly RoadWatch report to help you navigate through some of the tougher spots.

Route 16 (GMF Post Office & Guam Army Readiness Center)
The contractor will proceed with laying the final course of pavement on Route 16 at the intersection of the Guam Main Facility Post Office and Guam Army National Guard Readiness Center in Barrigada.

Paving will occur in three stages from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday, February 6, at which time motorists can expect lane closures and restrictions.

Route 17 Talofofo Bridge
The Talofofo Bridge will be closed from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 7, Wednesday, February 8 and again on Thursday, February 9. This closure is necessary to ensure the safety of motorists and construction crews as they remove and demolish three (3) 105-foot long girders, each weighing 70 tons.

Roads will be closed between the intersection of Route 4 and Route 4A (entry from Route 4 into the village proper), on the northern side of the Talofofo Bridge and the entrance to Talofofo Bay beach on the southern side. Access will be restricted to local traffic only. Signage will be posted to remind motorists of this road closure.

Route 4 Togcha and Talofofo Bridges (Talofofo and Inarajan)
Drivers traveling on Route 4 at the Togcha and Talofofo Bridges are advised that traffic continues to be restricted to one lane.  Temporary traffic signs are in place with timing monitored and adjusted to minimize delays.  Increased travel time and short delays should be anticipated while driving through these areas.

Route 17 (Talofofo)
Road construction continues at the intersection of Route 4 and Route 17. Drivers traveling through this area can anticipate shifting lanes, short one-lane closures and brief delays.

Route 7A
Accesses to Route 7A from Martinez Lane and Camacho Street are open to traffic.

Access to Route 7A from Route 33 will be closed due to the installation of storm sewer pipes. A detour will be in place to route traffic to and from Route 33 to Route 7A through Camacho Street.

Traffic in the construction area of Route 7A is limited to one-way west bound from Route 8 to Route 4. Access to businesses and streets, except the aforementioned, along the Route 7A will remain open.

Motorists are asked to proceed with caution and pay strict attention to traffic control signs posted along the construction area.

Route 15 (near Ton Robit Street), Yigo
The southern section has been temporarily paved with asphalt. Paving is currently scheduled to resume February 20. The concrete barriers and temporary traffic lights have been removed and traffic is currently open to traffic on both lanes. Northbound lane shoulders for the same section are closed due to grading works.

Drivers traveling through this construction area are advised to use caution and observe all traffic control signs placed in advance of the lane modifications including all warning, directional, and speed signs.

Route 8/10/16 (Tri-Intersection)
All permanent lanes are open to traffic at the Tri-Intersection, and the traffic signals at both the Tri-Intersection and Route 8A in front of Happy Mart are operational. Motorists are cautioned that this area is still a construction zone.

Route 2 (Umatac)
Route 2 Cetti Bay Culvert

Route 2 along the Cetti Bay Culvert will be open to traffic on both lanes. Daytime lane reduction may occur for short periods of time due to moving equipment. Drivers traveling through this construction area are advised to use caution and observe all traffic control signs placed in advance of the lane closure including all warning, directional, speed and stop signs.

Route 2 Umatac Baseball Culvert
Motorists traveling through the Umatac Baseball culvert construction site are requested to reduce speed, observe all construction signs and to be aware of workers on the road shoulders.

Route 2 Cetti Rock Catchments Wall
Daytime traffic shifts and lane changes continue to be in effect for traffic traveling south of the Cetti Bay Culvert construction area. Drivers are urged to reduce their speed and change lanes when needed.  Delays and increased travel time can be anticipated.

Route 2 Sella Bay Culvert
Route 2 along the Sella Bay Culvert will be open to traffic on both lanes. Drivers traveling through this construction area are advised to use caution and observe all traffic control signs placed in advance of the lane modifications including all warning, directional, and speed signs.

Route 6A (Murray Road) Asan
Route 6A Murray Road remains closed while construction work is in progress. Drivers are advised to observe all construction, detour and road closure signs.

Route 4 Ylig Bridge (Yona)
Pile foundations on the permanent Ylig Bridge on Route 4 will continue to be installed this week.

Due to the proximity of piles to travel lanes, and vibrations generated from this work, intermittent traffic delays and lane closures will be required for the safety of motorists traveling in the area. The temporary bridge and detour is open to traffic with a posted 15 MPH speed limit. Motorists are requested to observe the posted speed limit and all construction signs.

In addition, the contractor will start relocation of GTA lines this week. No expected interruption in services at this time.
