Guam - For those expectant mothers out there who are looking to stay active and healthy during their pregnancy, Synergy Studio is offering a special program designed just for you. the company will be offering a Baby Bump Boot Camp for expectant mothers starting in February.
Owner Clare Calvo explains her reasons for the camp, saying, "This is my first pregnancy. Just going through all the transitions...not just my physical body but also mentally and emotionally. I'm a very active person, I'm used to a very active lifestyle and of course there are certain things that I've had to modify with my exercise and different things like my diet...my whole lifestyle basically."
The boot camp begins on Saturday, February 4, starting off with an introductory talk from Sagua Managu's Dr. Annie Bordallo. From there, Calvo says, "It's going to focus a lot more on day-to-day exercise. We'll have tread and shred, they will be on the treadmill, it's safer on a treadmill to use the incline rather than speed for those who don't want to do a lot of jumping and lightweights...so every day will be a different one hour fitness class."
Fitness classes will range from yoga, barre sweat, Zumba, and even BAM. The camp also includes pre- and post-assessments by certified personal trainers, and advice, from a nutritionist and nurse practitioner from the Marianas Physicians Group to assist with nutritional meal plans.
Calvo says the boot camp is not just for expectant mothers but also for friends and family who want to be part of the support team.
"Just going through the emotional roller coaster as well," she added. "When you exercise with the endorphins you feel good just seeing all the change with the body, to do something like this in a group it would be great to reach out same process I am or similar - I feel things that you do together in a group it's cohesive... it's more motivating."
