Guam hosting 'AAA' Baseball Championship

Guam - Guam Major League, Inc. has announced that Guam will be hosting the 18 and under Oceania 'AAA' Baseball Championship at the Paseo Stadium. The Baseball Confederation of Oceania Regional Championship will start on January 27 and run through February 2. Countries competing in the tournament are Australia, CNMI, Guam, Palau and New Zealand.

The format of play will be a double round robin with the first and second place teams to play a single elimination game for Gold and Silver. Athletes looking to try out for the team must meet the 5-year residency requirement and who were born from 1994 through 1996 will be eligible for the 20-person roster.

Tryouts are currently going on now through next week at the Paseo Stadium. Winner of the tournament will advance to the 2012 International Baseball Federation 18 Under Baseball World Championship to be played in Korea.
