Guam - Right out of high school Guadalupe Mafnas became a volunteer nurse at the Guam Memorial Hospital back in 1960. Friends, family and co-workers surprised her today by honoring her for 50 years of serving as a nurse on Guam.

She retired from GMH in the early 1990s and has since been at Naval Hospital. "It's kind of hectic already because I am getting old, which everybody's going through, so I'm still doing great in my working status. As long as I still think and do the right thing for my patients I will go through it until the next year 2012 or 2013," Mafnas told KUAM News.

Mafnas says her most memorable experience as a nurse was when she had to deliver a baby inside a Volkswagon back in 1963.
