Guam - Jury selection was scheduled to begin Monday in the trial of Rudy Sablan, but the matter was canceled at the request of the Attorney General's Office. Sablan is charged with possession of a controlled substance with the intent to distribute. The charges stem from an arrest that was made last year.
The defendant faces a charge of conspiracy to distribute the drug Ice from this year so the prosecution is looking to combine the cases. Sablan is also awaiting trial for two more criminal cases including the seizure of firearms, ammunition, marijuana and drug paraphernalia found at his home earlier this year. He also faces charges for his alleged involvement in the kidnapping and torture of a man.
Another hearing is scheduled for December 28.
