Guam - The 4th Annual Y Tinaotao 5K Run takes place this Saturday at the Agana Cathedral. The Guam Humanities Council is hosting the event to keep the island aware of the various historical sites in Hagatna. Runners and walkers who participate in the 5K will be treated to presentations and hi lighted sites on the course.

"This will be our 4th Annual Y Tinaotao 5K and the name of the run actually came from the title of the Guam Humanities Council in Chamorro," said Cathy Flores with the GHC. "Tinaotao really means humanness talking about human ties and history. So what we wanted to do with the run like we did in the previous years is to explore the history of Hagatna and why people can enjoy healthy exercise. We have prepared the run with viewing the historical sites of Hagatna. Through out the run we have 10 historic sites such as the Dungca House, Shimizu House and of course the Plaza De Espana, Latte Stone Park. We have all of those banners marked off so people will have a sense of where the historical sites are located and then we also developed a lengthy and detailed brochure of all the Hagatna sites as well as the history of Hagatna as our capitol city."

Runners and walkers can register at Hornet Sporting Goods in Tamuning or at the Council Office located at the Reflections Center. Registration is $7.00 per person or $25 for a group of four. For more information call 472-4460/61 or email cathyghc@teleguam.net.

"The proceeds from the run are used to run our local programs. We have customized medals, Gold, Silver and Bronze and we are going to award both male and female categories. Post race festivities include raffle drawings and through our generous sponsor Delta Airlines we will be giving away two round trip tickets to Japan. We also have 2 cell phones with service from GTA along with a night stay in an oceanview stay courtesy of Outrigger Guam, which include Sunday brunch as well as other great raffle prizes."
