Guam - Congratulations to local female boxer Gianna Sarusal who represented the island very well in Saipan. Gianna fought Saipan MMA fighter Tara Namauleg in Trench Warriors Rites of Passage: Onra. Both fighters agreed to put on the exhibition bout in between the show. Gianna finally got a worthy opponent willing to step in and get her some work.
Sarusal was able to use her reach and jab her way inside to land some punches. Namauleg returned a flurry of punches of her own but couldn't keep Gianna in one place long enough to land any damaging blows. Sarusal was able to work the cage and throw punches from different angles to off set her shorter opponent.
In the end Gianna landed more of the power shots and got in a good fight hopefully opening the doors for more female fighters to step up and get involved with the sport.
