Guam - A measure that would generate funds for the Guam Environmental Protection Agency, the Mayor's Council of Guam, the Veteran's Affairs Office, Guam Fire and Guam Police is up for discussion this week at the Legislature. Bill 279 proposes to eliminate the tax exemption on liquid fuels trans-shipped through Guam.
The measure, introduced by Senator Tom Ada, would collect up to $2.3 million, 55% of which would go to environmental protection and cleanups, while the remainder would maintain the Veteran's Cemetery and sustain mobility for police and fire vehicles. The hearing is Tuesday morning.
