Guam - Dozens of cyclists gathered at the Dededo Sports Complex to participate in the iBike campaign. The cause hopes to persuade the Department of Public Works to seek federal funding to construct bike lanes. Sisters Janice Malilay and Agnes White attended this morning with their families to support the cause.
"We came out here this morning to help support the Guam Cycling Federation in their quest to obtain bike lanes and walking paths for the people of Guam, So Guam will be a safer for our children and our families," said Malilay. White added, many people are reluctant to go out there and exercise because there's been accidents with bikers and even joggers if we could ensure safety perhaps it would be an incentive for people to go out and exercise, which is an important thing to do."
iBike coordinator Tom Renfro says today's turnout was overwhelming with about 150 bikers. The next iBike event is tentatively scheduled for Columbus Day in October.
