Guam - First Lady Christine Calvo along with Guam the Guam Memorial Hospital Volunteer Association presented two bariatric beds to the GMH Skilled Nursing Unit today. Currently GMH is challenged with increased admissions of obese patients and these specialized beds ensure their safety and comfort.
"The donations that you see here from the hospital volunteers are a great group of women that I have been able to work with all of this comes from their support working with the hospital administration and seeing what their needs are and then going out into the community and then asking the community to please come and help, our only civilian hospital," she said.
The volunteer group spent almost $60,000 on today's donation, funds that were raised at last year's GMH Volunteers Association Annual Charity Ball.
An internal affairs investigation is underway at the prison after an inmate was accidentally released from their custody. Department of Corrections director Tony Lamorena says it happened over the weekend. He admits there was a miscommunication.
