Governor declares Miss Guam World Month

Guam - Governor Eddie Calvo this morning signed a proclamation declaring August as Miss Guam World Month. After a 15-year hiatus, the local pageant is back. 15 young ladies are competing for the crown and to represent Guam in the Miss World Pageant scheduled for November in London, England.

At the heart of pageant is its dedication to community service.

Each of the contestants have selected local charities that they are raising money for. You can find out more about the pageant on the Miss Guam World page on Facebook.

Likewise on August 21 you'll definitely want to tune in for KUAM's People Choice Preliminary Special, you will get to vote on line and via text on who you think should be crowned.

On pageant night the people's choice winner will be announced.
