Guam - A background investigation into the governor's nominee for the Superior Court bench is underway.  Public Safety Oversight Chair Senator Adolpho Palacios confirms international investigative agency is conducting the check on Attorney James Canto. The governor's legal counsel was recently selected to fill the vacancy left by retired judge Steven Unpingco.

The Democrat lawmaker says once the investigation is complete, his committee will decide on a date for Canto's confirmation hearing.  In the meantime, Adelup has not yet announced who will replace Canto.
