PRESS RELEASES - Guam Homeland Security/Office of Civil Defense are in constant communication with the National Weather Service (NWS), the Department of Public Works (DPW) and the Mayor's Offices of several affected villages as the island continues to experience heavy rainfall and isolated flooding.
DPW is currently responding to reports of flooding in Merizo. The affected areas are Espinosa Avenue, Quinene Road, and the Barcinas housing.
While the morning rainfall may have tapered off, residents should anticipate more rain throughout the day. Residents can expect ground saturation, ponding of water and localized flooding with more rainfall. In addition, residents should exercise extreme caution while driving, as roads are slippery and may create unsafe driving conditions.
It's the second of its kind happening this year. The Department of Youth Affairs hosting its youth services outreach event over the weekend. DYA partnering with other government and non-profit organizations to put on the event for our youngsters. The goal - to provide services and information to families who are not aware of the resources available to them in the community. It's efforts officials say is being offered to help keep kids out of trouble.More >>
