Palacios books GFD confirmation hearing

by Nick Delgado

Guam - Despite his contention that Acting Guam Fire Chief Ray Perez doesn't hold the qualifications to officially serve in the position, Senator Adolpho Palacios says he will still move forward and hold a confirmation hearing to allow Perez to make his case.

"I emphasized that what the committee does not receive at the time of the hearing we may require Perez to produce it at which time we give him five days and perhaps we can recess with the understanding to come back maybe three, four or five days later with the documents and if its still not forthcoming then the committee will decide from there on what to do," said the senator.

Palacios contends Perez lacks documents showing he served as the EMS operations officer at GFD in October 1999 to September 2004. The confirmation hearing is tentatively scheduled for August 3.
