Three apply for Parole Board seats

Guam - Hoping to avert any legal action by inmates up for parole, the Governor's Office is moving forward with the process of selecting new members for the Guam Parole Board. Governor's Deputy Press Secretary Phill Leon Guerrero says Governor Eddie Calvo is committed to filling the vacancies, and has been since the measure that changed the composition of the board became law earlier this year.

"We are so happy that three people have answered the call to serve on the parole board and right now they are just finalizing the paper work and their appointments will be transmitted to the legislature as soon as everything is set," he said.

The board lacked quorum to hold meetings since February. DepCor reports more than 33 inmates are awaiting parole.
