POST Commission meets, elects new officers

by Nick Delgado

Guam - After several months of not meeting, the Police Officer Standards and Training Commission met for the first time this year at the Guam Community College. The commission elected its new officers. GPD's Chief Fred Bordallo was selected as the commission chair, while Airport Police Chief Bob Camacho is vice-chair.

Camacho says the first meeting included discussion on the possibility to increase the standards throughout the law enforcement and peace officer personnel in GovGuam, as well as the option to include new physical fitness requirements. "The whole thing is standard training and what does it require for each police officer, Customs officer, Port officer, Airport Police, DOC and what we want to do is have a standard training so that if there is a need for support from all the different entities we can interchange if necessary" he said.

The POST Commission is still seeking an executive director, and will meet again on August 4.
