Team Guam wins big in Little League opener

PRESS RELEASES - The 2011 Asia Pacific (ASPAC) Little League Baseball Majors Regional Tournament got underway this morning when eleven teams including Guam, made their way onto the field at the Northern Region Sports Complex in Dededo.

Asia-Pacific countries from Australia, The Philippines, Hong Kong, Taiwan, New Zealand, Korea, Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, The Commonwealth of the Northern Marianas and Guam, were part of the Opening Ceremony for the seven day event that will determine who will represent the region at the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania next month.

Guam Little League District Administrator, Stephen Guerrero, greeted everyone with some welcoming remarks, while B.H. Chow, Region Director, Asia Pacific Little League gave the Keynote address. Lt. Governor Ray Tenorio had the honor of throwing out the first pitch to open the tournament.

A schedule of five games will continue each day until Friday, July 15, 2011 when the Championship game is played.
