Guam - Hawaiian music legends Kalapana will be performing live on Guam at the Liberation Carnival in Hagatna this weekend. The one-time performance is free to the public. Sinajana Vice Mayor Robert Hofmann says the group was recently inducted into the Hawaiian Recording Artist Hall of Fame.

He adds the group will be performing for two hours and will also have CDs for sale. Hofmann says it took a lot of convincing to make this performance possible, telling KUAM News, "They were last here I believe in 2002 and in really weighing out our options in what kind of entertainment to bring up every time their name came up more and more people said yea sure, I looked at their Facebook page and they had more friends then Jack Johnson and Bruno Mars and most locals have them as their friend so I said sure it just makes the best match."

Kapalana's free concert is this Saturday, July 9 at the Liberation Carnival beginning at 8pm.
