Deadline approaches for food services contract

Guam - The Department of Education is moving quickly to secure a new food services contract. The deadline for companies to submit a response to a request for proposal is tomorrow.

According to DOE Deputy Superintendent Taling Taitano, an evaluation team comprised of school administrators will immediately begin the process of reviewing the submissions. "What we're hoping is to issues out a notice to award early next week; we also plan to issue a draft contract and put it to all the vendors that are interested in performing the service so that they can start to take a look at the contract so that when we issue the notice of award we can start negotiating on the contract fairly quickly."

One of the new things DOE is considering including in the contract is a clause that in the event the contractor can't provide services for whatever reason they must bear the burden of finding a substitute provider.
