Guam - There's a new chief in town. Governor Eddie Calvo announced he has appointed Raymond Perez as the chief of the Guam Fire Department. Perez returns to GFD after retiring in 2004 after serving more than 31 years in GovGuam.
He began his public service at the Department of Education and left teaching to become a firefighter. He rose up the ranks, and retired as the head of the GFD's Emergency Medical Services Division. His nomination has been submitted to the Guam Legislature for confirmation.
Perez says, "I've always been a go-getter. I believe there are things that can be handed to you, and things you have to fight for. I will fight to make this department better, especially when it comes to emergency medical services."
