Guam - Mitigation efforts are well underway to prevent any further erosion at the Nimitz Beach Park in Agat. According to Parks & Rec Acting Director Peter Calvo, 150 coconut trees were planted and concrete slabs were moved to the shoreline to serve as a barrier from crashing waves.
With the help of personnel from the 96th Bomb Squadron at Andersen Air Force Base, DPR has managed to keep the costs down. According to Calvo, he's trying to avoid spending any government funds on the project. More mitigation work will be performed later.
