JFK grad heading to Merchant Marine Academy

PRESS RELEASES - Congresswoman Madeleine Z. Bordallo today announced that Dan A. Saldana has been appointed to the United States Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA) in Kings Point, New York.  Dan was nominated by Congresswoman Bordallo and competed with nominees nationwide for admission into the Merchant Marine Academy.  The Merchant Marine Academy's admission board selected Dan based on his academic achievements, athletic abilities, extracurricular activities, and community involvement.

Dan is the son of Danilo and Ofelia Saldana of Tumon.  He graduated from John F. Kennedy High School and was a member of the JFK rugby and football teams.  Dan recently completed a ten-month USMMA Preparatory School Program at the New Mexico Military Institute in Roswell, New Mexico.

"Dan is a hard-working student who wants to serve our nation," said Congresswoman Bordallo.  "I congratulate Dan and his parents on his appointment to the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy.  I am confident that he is prepared to succeed at the Merchant Marine Academy, and that he will serve our nation with distinction when he graduates with the Class of 2015."
