Guam - The repairs to the Agat-Umatac Road are finally moving forward after Public Works today awarded the Route 2 project to IMCO General Construction. Work has been at a standstill for nearly three months after former contractor Hubtech International was fired from the job for multiple violations.

DPW Director Joanne Brown says they worked these past several weeks with Chungko Insurance, which agreed to pay $1.8 million of the bond left on the work not completed by Hubtech. Brown is confident that IMCO will complete the project that now costs $3.8  million. She told KUAM News, "I think its very important to ensure that when we hire contractors that they have where with all to complete the job, and at the same time DPW's also going to be more aggressive to ensure that the quality of work, the timelines are met, the deliverables are there."

IMCO has 200 calendar days to complete the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act-funded project.
