Guam - With the Liberation Parade right around the corner the Mayors Council of Guam today voted to increase the cash prizes for float entries. Mayors upped the amount as a means to entice participation which has seen a decrease in recent years.

1st place gets you $2,000, 2nd place $1,500 and 3rd place 1-thousand dollars.  As for the carnival, mayors discussed the possibility of a soft opening for next Wednesday, if not then it will go on as scheduled for Saturday, June 11.

And as a special treat, Hawaii band Kalapana has agreed to perform for free to the public. No dates and times have been announced as of yet.
