Guam - Friday afternoon lunch and rush hour traffic on Marine Corps Drive in Tamuning was backed-up considerably for several hours as police were called to investigate a motorcycle crash. Eyewitnesses told police that they witnesses the motorcycle operator take a sharp right turn from a side street onto Route 1.

The driver managed to miss a pedestal and then revved the engine to proceed northbound.  Witnesses say the man lost control of his silver Suzuki bike and struck a concrete pole.

Police confirm the man, believed to be in his 30's, was not wearing a helmet. Medics transported the man to the Guam Memorial Hospital where he is said to be in critical condition and non-responsive.  He sustained significant head trauma including a skull fracture.

The Guam Police Department's Highway Patrol Division spent several hours reconstructing the scene of the crash and continue to investigate the incident.
