Guam - The Guam Fire Department is trying to determine what caused two 40' containers with fireworks to become fully engulfed causing an early morning explosion in Yigo. GFD Spokesperson Captain Andy Arceo says units from Dededo and Astumbo responded to Q's Ranch shortly before 1am Friday.

When firefighters arrived they found one 40' container fully burned out and a second container half destroyed.  The third container remained intact. Captain Arceo says arson investigators are on the scene to determine how the blaze started.

KUAM News spoke with property owner Dave Quitugua, who confirmed the fireworks have been stored on his property for the last two years and the fireworks are used at Liberation and other activities throughout the year. Quitugua says he doesn't believe the blaze was intentionally set as fire officials on the scene informed him that it looked like it was a chemical fire that started within one of the containers.
