Guam - The casino is just about done being built at the Liberation Carnival grounds. As we reported after being given authorization to run this year's liberation festivities as it sees fit, the Mayors Council of Guam authorized the return of gambling to the annual carnival, something that was banned since 2002. Guma Mami was selected as the beneficiary of the gambling proceeds.

Sinajana Vice-Mayor Robert Hoffman is the president of the non-profit group, "It came at a good time because we were facing all these problems that maintenance wise breaking down with all our vehicles, homes and everything so board of directors was like whatever venue we can and so when we were approached we said okay sure and we were like how much will we really make from this and so its really a shot in the dark here so we were rally happy about that."

No alcohol will be allowed on the carnival grounds but will be allowed in the casino area. The MCOG also notes that no minors will be allowed in the casino area. The carnival will open on June 11 and run through July 24.
