Guam - Guam Office of Civil Defense Administrator Chuck Ada spoke before the Rotary Club in Tumon this afternoon. Ada detailed how the Office of Civil Defense came to be as well as the objectives the agency takes when dealing with natural disasters.
Ada also explained the tsunami maps recently developed with the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center that will help for better planning in the event of future tsunami evacuations. "Drawing out the lines of the exact evacuation areas, I can tell you this much for Guam - Chalan Pago, Pago Bay area would be the worst hit and it wouldn't be Tumon. The runoff for Tumon, I believe, is only 17 feet, so for all of Tumon its vertical evacuation," he explained.
